Additional Information Aztech CDA 268-03I CD-ROM DRIVE Ver 1.01 This file contains additional information about the CD-ROM drive installation software that was not available at printing time. General Information =================== Standard IDE supports up to a maximum of two IDE interfaces. Each IDE interface can support up to a maximum of two devices, i.e. either 2 hard disks, 2 CD-ROM drives or a combination of 1 hard disk & 1 CD-ROM drive. The port address for Primary & Secondary IDE interface is at 1F0H & 170H respectively. Primary IDE interface refers to the interface (at 1F0H) on your system where the IDE hard disk is connected (it can be built-in on the system motherboard or on a separate I/O card). Secondary IDE interface (at 170H) refers to the IDE interface on a separate interface card (e.g. the interface card bundled with Aztech CDA268-03I CD-ROM drive, on-board Secondary IDE interface or the interface on the sound card). CD-ROM Drive Configuration ========================== Please note that the Aztech CDA268-03I CDROM drive is factory configured to Single/Slave drive setting. Therefore, the following points are to be observed during the installation of the CD-ROM drive : 1.) If you are connecting the CD-ROM drive directly to the provided interface card or your system's on-board Secondary IDE interface, no jumper setting is required on either the CD-ROM or hard disk drive. If the on-board Secondary IDE interface has a hard disk connected, ensure that it is configured to Master drive setting. Please refer to your hard disk reference manual for more information. 2.) If your Sound Card has an IDE interface, please install the CD-ROM drive through the interface on the sound card. Please ensure that the jumper setting on the sound card is properly configured to IDE CD-ROM interface. For more information, refer to your sound card user's manual. 3.) If you are connecting the CD-ROM drive and the hard disk together through the on-board Primary IDE interface, a.) Please ensure that your hard disk is configured to Master drive setting. For more information, please refer to your hard disk reference manual. b.) Please also make sure that the following statement is in the [386Enh] section in the SYSTEM.INI file under WINDOWS directory. [386Enh] 32bitdiskaccess=OFF 4.) If you are connecting two CD-ROM drives directly to the provided interface card or your system's on-board Secondary IDE interface, ensure that one CD-ROM drive is configured to Master drive and the other to Slave drive setting.
